Attendance

  • Your child should be aiming for 100% attendance.
  • If your child is not in school we cannot teach them.
  • Your child should aim to attend school every day.
  • If your child is not at school there must be a good reason, e.g. illness.
  • We expect all students to have over 95% attendance by the end of the year.

You must report your child is absent each and every morning (before 8.15am)  via email to absence@deepings.anthemtrust.uk.

If your child has a medical condition or other reason which may affect their attendance, please contact their form tutor, Head of Year or our Attendance Officer so that we can provide as much help and support as necessary.

Please arrange all routine medical and dental appointments during half term or after 2.30pm. We do understand that hospital and orthodontic appointments can be subject to availability. We require a copy of the appointment letter before approving any authorised absence.

Doctors/appointment notes can be handed in at reception or the online message from the doctor can be shown to reception when collecting your child. Alternatively, message or notes of appointments can be sent to absence@deepings.anthemtrust.uk

Important Information Regarding Student Absences

In exceptional circumstances, parents may request a leave of absence for their child. Such requests must be submitted in advance and approved by the school. If your child is absent without prior approval, the absence will be recorded as unauthorised.

Please note that unauthorised absences may result in the issuance of a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) for the period of absence. Failure to pay the FPN could lead to further legal action. For more details, please download the leave of absence letter and understanding attendance information below.

As a school we continue to stress the importance of good school attendance. We realise that absence not only affects a student’s academic performance but also their social and wellbeing in school.
