Community Engagement
Each week our students have an opportunity to engage in either a personal wellbeing or community opportunity. This initiative puts our students at the heart of our local community, empowering them to engage and build a stronger, more connected place to live and study. By participating in community activities – which underpin our core values for Kindness, Respect and Ambition - students develop essential life skills, foster a sense of civic responsibility and contribute positively to our local area.
The Community Engagement initiative encourages students to build connections with local residents and organizations, fostering a sense of belonging and community spirit.
This allocated time also provides opportunities for personal development, as students develop essential life and career skills, such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership. It also promotes students' mental and physical well-being through participation in activities that enhance their personal growth and happiness.
Students can choose what Community Engagement activity they would like to undertake according to their own personal preferences. Examples include:
· Helping the Elderly: Students can visit care homes, assist with shopping and household tasks, and provide companionship to elderly residents.
· Supporting Schools: Assist primary schools with tutoring, extracurricular activities, and administrative support.
· Working with People with Disabilities: Volunteer at local organizations that support individuals with disabilities, helping with activities and providing assistance.
· Environmental Initiatives: Participate in local environmental projects, such as community gardens, park clean-ups, and conservation efforts.
· Supporting Community Clubs and Charities: Volunteer at local community clubs, food banks, and charitable organizations to support their initiatives and events.
· Promoting Personal Well-Being: Engage in activities that promote students' well-being, such as sports, mindfulness sessions, and creative arts.
Participation in our Community Engagement initiative aligns with our school’s vision to develop kind, respectful and ambitious individuals who thrive and feel valued and will help equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to lead happy, meaningful lives in society. It supports our key aims for developing the skills and attributes of our students in order to equip them to be successful and enterprising citizens and building a community that cares for, and respects each other, in order for our students to grow to be confident, compassionate adults.
