At The Deepings School, we are committed to creating an environment where students feel happy, safe, and supported.I understand that starting secondary school is a huge change for our students, and everyone at the school is dedicated to making the transition as smooth, exciting, and enjoyable as possible.

The move from primary school to secondary school is a huge change for both children and their parents. We recognise that to have a smooth and successful start to Year 7 it is key to provide you with all the information you need. Discovery Morning

If you have some unanswered questions we would invite you to join one of our Discovery Mornings and have a look around the school in action. 

Tours are scheduled regularly up until the Easter holidays, please visit the booking link below to see availability.

All tours begin at 10am prompt and will last around 40 minutes with a chance to speak to a member of the senior leadership team.

Transition Timeline: Key Dates 

Year 6 Induction 'STEAM DAY'

Friday March 7th 2025  

9.30am-2.30pm: A taster day with a focus on Science,Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths - ‘STEAM’! Students will enjoy an exciting day of experiencing secondary school. Lunch will be provided for students, along with a snack at breaktime. Please bring a water bottle on the day.

2.30pm - 3.30pm: Parents session, join us and meet senior leaders of the school and the transition team.

Year 6 Induction Day for students with additional needs

Friday 27th June 2025

Further details regarding this day will be shared by our school SENDCo in liaison with your primary school SENDCo.You will be notified if your child is required to attend, along with further details, in May.

Year 6 Induction Days

Monday 30th June and Tuesday 1st July 2025

We look forward to welcoming your child to our induction days! The two days will give our new students the opportunity to explore the school, sample some lessons and make new friends! Feeling happy at school is our priority for your child. These days are valuable to ensuing they head into the summer holiday with confidence about starting with us in September. Prior to this event, the transition team will visit your child’s primary school and work with them to prepare them for their step up into secondary school. Further information, along with parent information will be circulated later this term.
