Dear families of the Deepings School

It has been a somewhat chilly end to the week, with the cold weather catching everyone out.  It acts as a reminder that as the cold weather takes hold, we encourage all students to bring a coat with them each day.  Students are allowed to wear their coats over the top of their blazers, with the expectation that they are removed when they enter classrooms.

We have seen an increasing trend over the last week of students bringing hot water bottles into school to keep warm.  Our buildings and classrooms are warm and additional heat in this form is not required or permitted.  Students are not to bring hot water bottles into school.

My weekly communication allows the opportunity to draw your attention to news items at the school.  We continue to have exciting activities and opportunities at the school on a daily basis and I urge you to check the news aspect of the website to keep updated. This week there has been a plethora of activities to support learning, which have ranged from after school clubs to careers support, along with visitors to the school.   In addition, I am pleased to share information from Lincolnshire County Council this week, whereby they invite parents of secondary children to free online webinars discussing current issues for teenagers and their parents.  This month there are two events; one on County Lines in Lincolnshire and the other on navigating teenage relationships.  See below for further information.

Assemblies this week have been the launch of the Save the Children Christmas jumper day.  We are looking forward to seeing students participating in this event on Thursday.  In exchange for wearing a Christmas jumper, a £1 donation will be collected at the school gates.  Our last charity event a couple of weeks ago was a roaring success, with students really enjoying the opportunity of a non uniform day.  I am delighted to share that we raised over £1100 on the day – an incredible achievement.  These fudns were raised fro Children in Need.

Lastly, next week is a big week for our Year 11 students who will be receiving their PPE1 results.  Pre Public Examinations (PPES) are mock examinations in readiness for the summer GCSES and A level exams.  Results coincide with Year 11 parents evening, an opportunity for students, parents and teachers to focus on the next steps of building knowledge and skills.  We wish them well with receiving their results and will be working closely with the year group to maximise outcomes over the coming months.

I wish you all a pleasant weekend.
