Dear families of the Deepings School

This week we have welcomed many visitors to our school.  Our popular ‘discovery mornings’ have commenced, with prospective Year 6 children and their families, touring the school during the day.  Our students and teachers are always welcoming on the school tours, allowing an insight into what can be expected during the school day.

Last night we hosted a successful Year 11 information evening.  At this critical point in their school career, it is important we share information which will support our students as they navigate their way through to their GCSE exams.  Mr Smith, Head of Year 11, will be circulating the information shared at the event on our website.  It was heartening to see the parental support for our students.  Exam preparation and guidance is very much a joint effort between us all!  Mrs Millikin, our recently appointed Head of Sixth Form was also on hand to discuss next steps.  Please put a note in your diary for Thursday 2 November which is our Sixth Form Open Evening.  Parents of Year 10 students are also welcome to attend.

This week we have successfully appointed a new Deputy Headteacher who will be joining The Deepings in January.  I look forward to sharing more information with you and introducing our new appointment in due course.

October has crept upon us this week and it has international recognition as Black History month.  Next week’s assemblies are focusing on this theme and the role in which Black women have shaped history.  Students can also expect to build on this during their lessons over the course of October.

I wish you all a happy and restful weekend.

Yours sincerely

Ms Kirstie Johnson

Headteacher
