News Bulletin 12 May 2023
BackDear families of The Deepings School,
This week our very own U16 Lionesses, The Deepings Girls Football team successfully won the County Cup. Well done to all involved and their coaches. It was a real delight to see them arrive back from their match and share in the celebration of their 5-3 win. These girls have excellent prowess on the football pitch!
Over the last few weeks we have been working to make our car parking system a safer environment at the start and end of the school day. Thank you for you support with this. Many parents and carers have responded positively to the changes and the presence we have in the car park. If you drop off or collect your child or children outside of the school car park, please do not park on the double yellow lines or the school safety zone area on Park Road, nor directly by the main car park entrance. This is for the safety of pedestrians and consideration of drivers using the car park and neighbouring houses.
The summer exam season fully kicks in next week, with written examinations beginning on Monday in RE and Drama. A level exams commence later next week. Both Year 13 and Year 11 students have been working hard in school and I know families will be supporting them at home during this important period of time. We wish them all the best of luck over the coming weeks.
I would like to highlight a drug and alcohol awareness workshop by webinar that will be running for parents and carers by drug education charity the Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation. This will be held on Monday 12th June at 7.00-8.30pm. This charity is excellent at highlighting the changes in society our children face with the world being a different place than it was for their parents. This workshop provides a great opportunity for you as a parent or carer to become more aware of what issues face your children, and what you can do to help them stay safe.
This week I showed a visitor around the school and they commented on how superbly presented our students are. I said that this is a result of a big team effort, with supportive families ensuring their children arrive at school every day, in the correct uniform and with the correct equipment, alongside our staff being clear and consistent with what we expect from students. Thank you for your continued support of our school expectations. It is much appreciated.
I wish you all a pleasant weekend.
Yours sincerely
Ms K Johnson
Head of School
