Dear families of The Deepings School,

This week the assembly theme has been exploring the visions and values of our school.  The school is focused on working with our pupils to address what our values should be.  Pupils will be putting their ideas forward next week, allowing them to shape what our values are.  It is important as we develop our school, we have a collective vision that resonates with our learners and wider community.  We will be sharing this with our school community later this term.

This week during assembly I was delighted to hand out awards pin badges to pupils who have achieved their gold award badges.  Further success has also been celebrated this week, with a number of our musicians gaining excellent results in their graded music exams.  Our sports students have done well too, with individual athletes being promoted through to the regional school’s athletics competition.

Year 12 pupils have been hearing about their next steps, with a talk given to them by University of East Anglia.  We are fortunate to have connections with a number of universities, who will readily offer to come into schools and inform pupils what it is like to be a student and study at a university.  In addition, we do ensure that our careers opportunities are comprehensive, there will be additional talks on apprenticeship opportunities to Year 12 over the coming weeks.

For a shorter week, a lot of exciting activity, much of it to celebrate.  On this note, I do hope that you all enjoy the bank holiday weekend and associated coronation activities.

Yours sincerely

Ms K Johnson

Head of School
