Netball v Spalding Academy – Thursday 2 March

On Thursday evening the Year 7, 8 and 9 netball teams met Spalding Academy for the next league game of the term.

Despite some tough quarters, both the Year 8 and 9 teams worked well to reduce the score line difference and performed exceptionally well in their last quarters. Despite losing their game, the morale at the end of the game for both teams was fantastic and they are clearly optimistic for their future games.

An undefeated Spalding side made the game challenging for the Year 7 Team. But, despite this, they powered through and lost by only one goal with a final score of 4-3. Well done all!

Year 8 Netball
The Year 8 netball fixture away at Spalding Academy on 23 February 2023 was a new look team, with debuts from Emilia Bamford and Evie Cole. Other experienced team members were Macey Bentley, Amber Fallows, Milla Pedder, Emma Smith, Georgia Hayes and Joss Mason. The squad played well and improved their play as the match progressed.

Year 10 netball tournament
The Year 10 netball tournament took place on Monday 27 February at Spalding High School.

There were eight teams taking part. With the temperature dropping throughout the afternoon, the spirits of the team stayed high. Winning 2 games, drawing 1 game and losing 4 games (some of them narrowly) resulted in a 5th place finish.

The squad: Jess Sanford, Emily Hinch, Isabella Minnis, Pippa Feek, Megan Goodman, Hayden Lewis, Rosie Smith, Izzy Rock-Jerram and Zara Jesson.

Year 10 netball fixture
The Year 10 netball team travelled to Spalding Academy on 23 February for their league fixture.  A highly competitive end-to-end game resulted in a draw. A fair result in the end!

Year 8 Boys football

On Thursday 2 March, the Year 8 boys football team played Spalding Academy in their latest league fixture. Freddie Sutton scored both goals, but it was not enough as Spalding took the game 5-2. Special mention to Oscar Seymour and Eddie Maddison, who both volunteered to stand in for our goalkeeper. Massive well-done boys.

Year 9 Boys football

On Thursday 2 March, Spalding Academy were the opponents for the Year 9 boys' football team. In a fiercely contested game, The Deepings opened the scoring, thanks to a Tyler Pratt penalty, but Spalding fought back to take the game 2-1.  On another day it could easily have been a different score.

All the boys should be immensely proud of their effort and attitude during the game.
