Sarah Graham - internationally renowned professional artist visits Year 10 Art
Back
Friday the 13th was definitely not an unlucky day for our talented year 10 Art students! We were honoured to have an internationally renowned professional artist come in for a day’s workshop.
We were treated with an inspiring talk about Sarah’s career to date, her inspirations, work processes and how she become a full-time professional artist.
Sarah then took the students through a quick and fun drawing exercise. The students used charcoal to sketch a toy or object they had brought in from home. After a minute they switched seats with another student, before continuing another student's drawing. Lots of moving around demonstrated changing an artist's focus.
The most amazing part of the day was Sarah imparting her wisdom and expertise with our students by going through her painting process. From gridding up work, mapping out the image, to starting the underpainting. There were lots of hints and tips for our budding young artists.
All the students had a go at recreating one of Sarah’s iconic paintings under her support and guidance.
What an amazing and valuable day for our talented students.
