On Tuesday 25 April, a group of Year 10 and 11 students travelled to Spalding High School to compete in the first District Rounders Tournament of the summer term.

Of the four attending teams, we faced Spalding High first. As our team had not previously played together, Deepings did well to keep Spalding's rounders below 10. When in bat, Deepings scored 4 rounders and, considering the strength of Spalding High, this was a great start.

The second game was a challenge, with Bourne Academy scoring 8.5 rounders in comparison to our 5.5.

Deepings were now in their stride.  The girls were able to identify their strengths and play these to their advantage while fielding.  In the next game Haven High scored 5 rounders,  The girls came out fighting and achieved an impressive score of 10.5 to win their last game.

Spalding High School were the victors, after winning all their games.  However, with all remaining teams winning one and losing two games, the final placings came down to the number of rounders scored.

The Deepings School was placed in 2nd place, with an incredible 4 more rounders than either Bourne Academy and Haven High!

Well done girls – you were great!
