Year 6 Transition Day at The Deepings

Wow! What a buzz this year’s Year 6 Transition Day was… On Tuesday 4 July, The Deepings School welcomed the new Year 6 students from the local primary schools and surrounding area.

The day got off to an exciting start with a whole year group assembly led by Head of School, Ms Johnson and new Head of Year 7, Mr Seston.

Year 6 students then had opportunity to meet new teachers and members of their tutor groups, whilst students provided their ‘Scoop’ on different  hobbies and interests.

There were a range of engaging lessons and activities including creative writing, mathematics and a ‘Rainbow Fizz’ experiment in Science, which was the overall winning lesson, as voted by Year 6 students! Even Mr Fryett was impressed with his own demonstration of a rather colourful testube, which received a rather rapturous round of applause from the class!

Here’s what some of the Y6 students said…

“I liked the flexibility of the different classrooms” – William

“I liked the creative writing we did in English, I thought we’d be just answering a load of questions but it was good fun” – Olivia

Overall, it was really successful day and the Year 6 students did very well! We shall look forward to look forward to seeing you again in September. In the meantime, have a wonderful summer!
