News Bulletin 7 July 2023
BackDear families of The Deepings School,
What a fabulous, but varied week we have had at The Deepings School.
On Tuesday we welcomed our new Year 7 cohort to the school. All pupils arrived very promptly and there was a sea of enthusiastic faces as they embarked on their first taste of their secondary school career. The year group excelled themselves in their taster lessons, with new experiences and friendships being high on the agenda. I was reliably informed the lunch was very good too! In the evening I was delighted to meet parents who came for additional information regarding their child joining us. I very much look forward to welcoming everyone in September. Do read the report form Mr Seston on our news page. Mr Seston is the new Head of Year for this year group and he is delighted to have assumed this role.
The athletics season is upon us and once again our athletes have achieved great success in the South Lincolnshire Athletics Championships. Mr Williams, who led the trip has commended pupils for their exceptional effort and determination. Well done to all involved in achieving some very impressive wins. Following their success, we will look forward to them achieving similar accolades in our school sports day which is next Monday, 17 July.
We've also had 2 unusual days this week, where we have been closed to pupils because of the NEU industrial action. I understand that this disruption to education is inconvenient for families, and I am very sorry that we have had to close The Deepings School for 2 days this week. I hope this is resolved quickly at national level.
The end of term is now in sight! I am committed to maintaining high standards of learning, attendance and uniform in the run up to the end of term. Please ensure your son or daughter continues to present themselves to school in line with our expectations. School will close to all pupils at 12.20pm on Wednesday 19 July. School buses and taxis have been notified of this change to the school day.
Have a lovely weekend.
Yours sincerely
Ms K Johnson
Head of School
