Dear families of The Deepings School,

I hope you have all had an enjoyable Easter break. We have had a very positive start to the summer term with lots going on at school this week.

Over the break a significant number of our Year 11 pupils attended the revision sessions put on in preparation for their GCSE exams. Our silver Duke of Edinburgh students also braved the elements on their practice expedition at the beginning of the holiday. Well done to our students participating in extra opportunities over the break and thank you to the staff who have supported them.

This week I have led all assemblies, talking to pupils about decision making. I have emphasised in assemblies, the importance of making correct decisions, about being purposeful in our learning, taking pride in how we look and how we conduct ourselves across the school.

You will be aware of 2 further strike days planned on 27th April and 2nd May. I will be assessing our staffing capacity on Monday next week and put out a final decision regarding which year groups will remain at home, on Monday afternoon.

Attached to our weekly news this week are new arrangements which are being introduced for lunchtimes. Please take time to read and share this information with your children. As a school we are looking to further improve and enrich break and lunchtime experiences, and this is a further step towards this.

Next week the school is delighted to be hosting The Parish Council Making a Difference Awards. I am really looking forward to attending and proud that the school hosts this event. I will enjoy sharing pupil successes with you next week.

Have a lovely weekend.

Ms Johnson

Head of School
