News bulletin 23 June 2023
BackDear families of The Deepings School,
New timetables have been issued this week to all of our pupils and I am delighted with the feedback received. Pupils have been approaching members of the senior leadership team and commenting on the changes. Narratives include;
‘It helps me learn, less gaps between lessons’
‘It has improved my cognitive ability’
‘I really like my new groups’
‘More time to focus on the lessons because they are longer’
Although a significant adjustment for our pupils midterm, the feedback shows this is a positive step to support the learning of our pupils. Our new year 10 cohort have settled well into their GCSE options too. Teachers have also commented how they enjoy and benefit from the new timetable. The added bonus is that there will be no changes in September.
This week we say farewell to Mr Meneaugh. He has secured a new role in a multi academy trust. We wish him well in his future and know he will be as fondly regarded in his new post as he was here at The Deepings. We are very fortunate to have secured an experienced senior leader to replace Mr Meneaugh. Mr White has joined our team as an interim deputy headteacher. He comes with a wealth of experience, specialising in the inclusion aspects of education. He has been introduced to all of our pupils in assembly this week and will be focusing on developing a positive culture of behaviour and attitudes within the school, aligned to our values of Kindness, Respect and Ambition. He started at the school this week to ensure a smooth handover and we very much welcome him to our team.
The exam season has now almost finished. Our Year 13 and Year 11 pupils have conducted themselves exceptionally well. They now have an exciting summer ahead and can sit back, relax and wait for the August results days to see the results of their hard work and revision.
Finally, please ensure your son or daughter continues to comply with our uniform expectations. Please see our uniform policy for further guidance. Trainers are not to be worn or jewellery.
Have a lovely weekend.
Yours sincerely
Ms K Johnson
