Year 7 Rounders success

The Year 7 rounders team travelled to their first District Rounders Tournament at Spalding High School.

Several of the team have shown a high level of commitment and dedication to the sport already this academic year, by regularly attending the club and then applying their knowledge and understanding of the game to practice sessions.

The Deepings faced three rival schools, University Academy Long Sutton (UALS), University Academy Holbeach (UAH) and Spalding High School.

In their first games against UALS and UAH, the team were phenomenal, scoring 5.5 rounders and 6 rounders, respectively! Confident bowling by Lola Gray made it difficult for the opposition to score when combined with quick backstopping duties by Jess Rock-Jerram. Working alongside them were Esmae Clarke and Emily Vere who secured stumpings to get many of the opposition out.

The last game was challenging against Spalding High, and the girls suffered a defeat. However, they were placed 2nd overall, which is a great achievement. Importantly, their cohesive and collective approach to each game was clear for all to see and they demonstrated what hard work can achieve!

Well done girls!

Year 9 Rounders Tournament

The Year 9 rounders team travelled to Spalding High School to compete in their first rounders fixture of the academic year.

The girls had not played as a team before, so this was the first time for them to work together to apply their knowledge and understanding of the game to competitive situations. Although there were several tricky moments for the girls to deal with, including some very experienced players, both as batters and fielders, in opposition, the girls worked impeccably together, and their communication and teamwork shone through.

In the last game against Spalding Academy, the girls lost by half a rounder but the tactical awareness and application of knowledge of the game was superb! The girls were all fantastic and should be very proud of how they played!
